Who am I?
Simple isn’t it? Who am l? Do I really know? Who are u? Do u really know?
Most of us if not all we answer this question by telling what we like, our desires, our wishes, our accomplishments, our plans, our religion, culture, race, family and so on. But is it really who we are? Or is it really who I am? Confusing isn’t it?....
What defines you to be you? Can your friends or your people refer to the person walking down the street or anywhere else that they give off your vibes? That you have your own distinct style and not go with the masses?
So growing up we have parents, uncles, aunties and guidance. We have society, culture, friends, religion and school teachers, all programming information in our heads for us to reason. Now you finish school, go to college and graduate and probably start working. Again most of us we are always chasing something to make us complete.
That something to some it’s love, to some it’s money and to others it’s dreams. Aaaah, really .... reality check, u might be chasing what your were told you must have, you might be chasing what your parents always nailed in your head growing up that it’s a must have. Or your might be chasing the promised land by today’s religious callers. All of that is right yes but is it really what you are?
Marriages, ties, friendships and societies all calls for u to be something to suit them or the present situation. Again is it all of that really what I am, what you are and what we are?
So if we all grow up with the above till now, as far as I can see there was never any chance of any of us to paint ourself image but all we were doing is fitting in. Hence we are all what we have become.... inside your heart in your own quiet moment, you might be surprised that everything today is not who you are but a product of what the world has made us to be....
Some end up going for therapy thinking that the answer is there.... Again in the session all you are recalling is the tells of where u have been, who you have been with, what you have leant and what your were warned and told. Is there really any space for u or to find the real you....
Why are we doing the job that we hate? Why are we spending time doing things that we don’t like? Why are we lying? Why are we buying the shoe that we don’t really like? We spend most of the time hurting because we never had a chance to have that critical balance that gives us a yardstick to be who we are supposed to be. So we spend most of the time worrying, chasing our shed, chasing that something .......
Ponder.....
